Laser Hair Removal

If you're tired of tweezing, shaving, waxing, or electrolysis, laser hair removal might be for you. Many women and men are embarrassed by unwanted facial and body hair, and frustrated by the messy, painful, and tedious options for removing it. With the LightSheer® DUET™ laser, our clients get noticeable, long-lasting hair reduction that is quick, comfortable, and more effective than ever.

The LightSheer DUET

laserHairRemAt Spa One, we're proud to use the LightSheer DUET system to offer our patients a reliable, high-quality treatment that creates consistently beautiful results. The LightSheer DUET is a diode laser that generates a highly concentrated beam of light. This light safely passes through the skin without causing damage, targeting the pigment within hair follicles.

When the pigment absorbs the laser's energy, the follicle is disabled. This interrupts the normal growth cycles of the affected follicles and significantly reduces unwanted hair growth, often treated hairs do not grow back.

Laser Hair Removal FAQs

How much does laser hair removal cost?

The cost of laser hair removal can vary significantly from patient to patient. Prices are based on factors including the size of the treatment area and the number of treatments recommended. For example, a patient who wishes to treat a small area of hair, such as the upper lip, will pay less than a patient who wants to treat his or her legs. During your consultation, we'll help you develop your personalized treatment plan and give you a detailed cost estimate.

Am I a candidate for laser hair removal?

The technology of the LightSheer DUET makes it safe for skin of all types. Good candidates (see illustration) include men and women who have unwanted hair anywhere on their faces or bodies. We can target brown or black hairs, and our laser can be used on almost any area of the body.

Does laser hair removal hurt?

Treatment with the LightSheer DUET is more comfortable than with other methods, and it requires no numbing cream or anesthetic. The special hand-piece applies gentle suction to the skin, which brings the hair follicles closer to the laser and causes the blood vessels to constrict. Instead of feeling any discomfort from the laser, you will feel the gentle pressure of the suction.

What areas can be treated with laser hair removal?

This treatment is safe for use on practically every area where you have unwanted hair. For women, laser hair removal is commonly used on the face, underarms, bikini area, arms, and legs (see illustration). Men often choose these laser treatments for the back and chest.

How long does a laser hair removal treatment take?

The average time for laser hair removal on the legs or back is about 20 minutes with the LightSheer DUET; however, the actual length of treatment time varies with the area being treated. Our laser's significantly larger spot size makes for much quicker treatments. With other platforms, these areas can average 60 minutes or more.

How many sessions are needed for laser hair removal?

For best results, most people need 4 to 6 treatments spaced several weeks apart, although this varies. Each hair follicle goes through an individual cycle of the growth. The laser is most effective at targeting hair follicles when they are in the active growth stage. Since not every hair is in the same stage at the same time, you'll need a series of treatments.
